Why appliances cost more than regular junk

Three reasons. First, weight, a refrigerator can run 200 to 400 pounds. It takes two people and proper equipment to move without damage to your floors and walls. Second, disconnection, we're not just picking something up, we're shutting off water lines, disconnecting venting, or handling refrigerant. Third, disposal, appliances with refrigerant require legally compliant handling. We don't just haul them to the dump.

Can't the city take it?

Grapevine and most DFW cities will pick up appliances through bulk item scheduling, but scheduling can take a week or more, appliances often need to be at the curb by a specific time, and you still have to get the appliance out of your home yourself. For most people, the convenience of a same-day crew that handles disconnection and hauling is worth the cost.

What happens to hauled appliances

Working appliances in good condition go to donation centers or resellers first. Non-working appliances go to certified recyclers, the metal, compressors, and components are recovered. We don't landfill appliances that can be recycled.
