Christmas Tree Disposal in DFW: Where to Take It or Have It Hauled

The holidays are over and the tree needs to go. In North Texas you have a few options, and the right one depends on how fast you need it gone and whether you have other items going out at the same time.

City curbside tree pickup

Most DFW cities offer Christmas tree curbside pickup in January. You place the tree at the curb without a bag, and the city collects it during regular yard waste collection. Trees are typically chipped into mulch through city composting programs. This is the free option and it works well if you can wait for the collection schedule.

Grapevine, Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless, and most DFW cities participate. Check your city's website or solid waste department for the specific collection window in January. Some cities accept trees only during a two-week window, so do not wait too long after New Year's.

Drop-off recycling locations

Several DFW parks, recreation centers, and community locations set up Christmas tree drop-off sites through January. Trees dropped off at these locations are typically chipped into mulch used in city parks. Search "Christmas tree recycling Grapevine TX" or your specific city for the nearest location and hours. Removing all ornaments, tinsel, and the tree stand is usually required before drop-off.

When to call a junk crew

If you need the tree gone before the city pickup window, if the tree is too large or dry to handle safely on your own, or if you are also clearing out other holiday storage clutter at the same time, a junk crew is the practical answer. Artificial Christmas trees are not recyclable through city programs, and most are not accepted at donation centers after heavy use. If your artificial tree is worn out and you are replacing it, it needs to go to waste disposal or a junk crew. Box it up or tie it down and we will take it.
