North Texas gets hit. Tornadoes, hailstorms, high-wind events, and flooding from heavy rain are regular occurrences across the DFW area, and Grapevine Lake and the surrounding Tarrant County communities see more than their share. After a major storm, you're dealing with cleanup under stress and time pressure. Here's what the debris removal process looks like and how to approach it.
The first 24 hours: safety before cleanup
Don't start hauling anything until the property is structurally safe. If a tree came down on the roof, fence, or structure, have a contractor assess before you or anyone else works around it. Downed power lines, gas leaks, and compromised structures are the priority, debris can wait an hour.
Document everything with photos before you move or remove anything. Insurance claims depend on documentation. Take photos of every room, every affected item, from multiple angles. Do this before cleanup begins.
What we haul after storms
- Yard debris) fallen tree branches and limbs, downed fences, broken outdoor furniture, scattered debris from high-wind events. Note: we haul debris, not full tree removal with stump grinding, that's a tree service job. We take what's already down and broken up.
- Damaged furniture and appliances) flood-damaged or hail-damaged items that need to go out quickly before mold sets in.
- Flooded contents, waterlogged furniture, boxes, clothing, and household items from a basement or first-floor flood. Time-sensitive. Wet material molds fast in Texas heat.
- Damaged building materials) wet drywall, damaged insulation, ruined flooring from a flood or leak.
- Storm-damaged roofing material, shingles, felt, and debris after roof damage.
Flood cleanup: move fast
Flood debris is time-sensitive in a way that storm debris isn't. In Texas summer heat, wet furniture and drywall begin growing mold within 24 to 48 hours. The longer waterlogged material sits in a home, the more extensive the mold remediation problem becomes. If you've had any water intrusion, prioritize getting wet material out before mold testing and remediation begins, your restoration contractor will tell you the same thing.
We can move fast on flood cleanup jobs. Call first thing in the morning after a flood event and we'll do our best to get there same-day.
Storm surge pricing
We don't price-gouge after storms. Our rates after a major weather event are the same as any other day. What changes after a big storm is demand, we fill up fast and have to work in order of the calls we received. Call as early as possible after a storm event. If we're booked out, we'll tell you honestly and give you a realistic timeline.
Working with insurance
If your storm cleanup is insurance-covered, we can provide an itemized receipt for your claim. Let us know upfront so we document the job properly. Depending on your policy and the claim type, debris removal costs may be partially or fully reimbursable. Your adjuster will confirm what's covered.
